Prone to Wander
We have spent the last several months exploring the theme “prone to wander” as it is found in Scripture and evidenced in our lives. The roads were dark and winding at times, but they have led us out into a spacious place of light and grace. Please make plans to join us for a special gallery event detailing our travels through art, music, and poetry.
The Book of Ruth
Almond Tree Artist Opening and Reception for their collaborative works on the Book of Ruth.
An Evening of Poetry
Almond Tree Artist Collective poets Brittany DiSalvo, Randall Edwards, and Jensen Kirkendall will be presenting their own work, discussing creativity, imagination, and how they employ words to make sense of the world. In addition, each artist will be speaking to how to engage with the poetic imagination along with pointing to past and contemporary poets whose work you may want to know.
Waves: A Story of Everyday Life
Jennifer Edwards presents a collection of mini-tapestry weavings as a catalyst for conversation.
Another Way of Seeing
Please join us for a gallery event of our Lent/Easter project centered on the Gospel of John, “Another Way of Seeing.” A new piece will be added each week to the gallery at Grace Kernersville from Ash Wednesday to Easter Sunday, and then we will celebrate the full collection Saturday, April 15 at 7pm.
Where Are You? An Advent Story
Where Are You? is an artistic exploration of how the themes of Advent are woven into Scripture. Charcoal portraits, pyrography, poetry, and song comprise five vignettes based on biblical encounters with God. The performance will be followed by a Q&A reception with the contributing artists.
Bird Songs: Premiere Performance
Bird Songs is a piano suite of ten pieces composed by Michael Kuehn. Each piece is a reflection on the colors and quirks of particular bird species, inspired by the nature photography by his wife, Hazel Kuehn. Michael will perform the suite in its entirety, providing commentary on their composition, and showcasing Hazel’s photographs. This is a free event.
The Stations of the Cross
During Lent 2021, an outdoor devotional art exhibit entitled The Stations of the Cross will be installed on the grounds of Hope Church. Visitors can come take a “pilgrimage” around the church building, prayerfully walking through the events of Holy Week. This exhibit is an extension of the original 2020 showing at Grace Gallery in Kernersville, featuring artwork by Keaton Sapp and poetry by Randy Edwards.
Woven Together: Virtual Artist Reception
Join us for a panel discussion of faith and arts featuring Jennifer Edwards, Randy Edwards, and Michael Kuehn. The primary topics are Jennifer’s “Woven Together,” an abstract weaving exhibit, and Michael’s work with Almond Tree Artist Collective and his latest music project. The event will be held virtually via the Grace Kernersville Facebook page.
